Omaha, Neb. - The Brain Injury Alliance of Nebraska is proud to partner with Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Nebraska (BCBSNE) to present its annual 5K Run, 1 Mile Walk/Roll fundraiser, Blazing Trails for Brain Injury.
The event, powered in part by BCBSNE’s Health of Nebraska sponsorship, will be held Saturday, June 8 from 8:30 to 11 a.m. at the Chalco Hills Recreation Area. Blazing Trails for Brain Injury is open to all ages, abilities and fitness levels. Participants are encouraged to raise money before the event to support those impacted by brain injury in Nebraska.
For the more competitive participants, the 5K run will be timed by Peak Performance: The Running Store and can be used to qualify for marathon events. A full list of the event sponsors can be found on Run Signup.
“Blazing Trails for Brain Injury has become a signature event for the Brain Injury Alliance of Nebraska,” said Peggy Reisher, executive director of the Brain Injury Alliance of Nebraska. “Every year, we look forward to seeing individuals who are a part of our brain injury community and those who support us by coming out to participate in the timed 5K run and the 1-mile walk and roll.”

The goal for this year’s event is to raise a total of $20,000 through registrations, donations and sponsorships. All proceeds and donations go toward supporting Nebraskans with brain injuries and their families through the Brain Injury Alliance of Nebraska’s work to connect these individuals with resources, information and local support and services.
Why Funds Are Needed:
Brain injury affects thousands of Nebraskans and impacts multiple areas of a person’s life such as cognition, memory, balance, emotional stability, relationships and more. Currently, few resources and support options are available to people living with a brain injury, especially outside of the metropolitan areas.
The Brain Injury Alliance of Nebraska exists to help bring meaningful system change to provide a better future for individuals affected by a brain injury. The organization works to build community support networks that help individuals and families across the state navigate life changes resulting from a brain injury – accomplishing this through brain injury prevention, education, advocacy, resource facilitation and support efforts.
