April 10, 2023

Omaha, Neb. - The Brain Injury Alliance of Nebraska is pleased to announce that registration is open for its annual 5K Run, 1 Mile Walk/Roll fundraiser, Blazing Trails for Brain Injury.

The event will be held on June 3, 2023, from 8:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. and is open to all ages, abilities, and fitness levels to participate and raise money and awareness for brain injury in Nebraska as they walk, run, or roll along the course at the Chalco Hills Recreation Area. For the more competitive participants, the 5K run will be timed by Peak Performance: The Running Store and can be used to qualify for marathon events.

Peggy Reisher, Executive Director of the Brain Injury Alliance of Nebraska, states, “Blazing Trails for Brain Injury has become a signature event for the Brain Injury Alliance of Nebraska. Every year, we look forward to seeing individuals who are a part of our brain injury community and those who support us by coming out to participate in the timed 5K run and the 1-mile walk and roll.”

All proceeds and donations go towards supporting Nebraskans with brain injuries and their families through the Brain Injury Alliance of Nebraska as we work to promote system change for brain injury by building community support networks.

The goal for this year’s event is to raise $25,000 through registrations, donations and sponsorships. These funds will go towards supporting Nebraskans with brain injuries and their families through the Brain Injury Alliance of Nebraska.

Why Funds Are Needed:

Brain injury affects thousands of Nebraskans and impacts multiple areas of a person’s life such as cognition, memory, balance, emotional stability, relationships, and more. Currently, few resources and supports are available to people living with a brain injury.

The Brain Injury Alliance of Nebraska exists to help bring about meaningful system change to provide a better future for individuals affected by a brain injury. The organization works to build community support networks that help individuals and families across the state navigate life changes resulting from a brain injury–accomplishing this through brain injury prevention, education, advocacy, resource facilitation, and support efforts.
