This summer, the Brain Injury Association of Nebraska has been stepping beyond conference rooms and classrooms to bring brain injury awareness directly into our communities. From soccer matches to baseball games, these events give us the opportunity to meet Nebraskans where they are, start meaningful conversations, and help more people understand the impact of brain injury.Just a simple way to turn remembrance into something that continues to help others.
Starting the Summer with Union Omaha
Our summer outreach kicked off on July 1 as Executive Director, Peggy Reisher, joined Union Omaha for a community awareness night. Peggy had the opportunity to speak to the stadium about brain injury awareness, and connect with fans at our information table.
Every conversation helps increase understanding, reduce stigma, and remind people that brain injury affects individuals and families in every community across Nebraska.
We’re grateful to Union Omaha for helping us share our mission with so many new faces.
More Than a Game with the Fremont Moo
This summer, we’re also honored to be part of the Fremont Moo’s partnership with CHAD Nebraska (Combined Health Agencies Drive).
Each Fremont Moo player selects a CHAD member agency to represent throughout the season. Thanks to the generosity of an anonymous donor, on-field accomplishments become donations that support nonprofit organizations across Nebraska.
We’re especially excited to cheer on #5 Wyatt Throckmorton and #24 Cooper Fuchino, who chose to represent the Brain Injury Association of Nebraska this season.
Wyatt’s words are a powerful reminder that brain injury touches more lives than many people realize. Whether through a family member, friend, coworker, or neighbor, many of us know someone whose life has been changed by a brain injury.
Throughout the season, every extra-base hit, home run, pitcher win, save, and grand slam by our players helps generate donations that support brain injury education, advocacy, and resources across Nebraska.
Join Us for Community Night with the Omaha Storm Chasers
Our summer of sports wraps up with BIA-NE Community Night at the Omaha Storm Chasers on Tuesday, August 18 at Werner Park.
We’ll be at the ballpark sharing resources, meeting members of our community, and celebrating brain injury awareness before the game. We’ll also have the honor of speaking to the crowd and throwing out the ceremonial first pitch.
If your BIA-NE swag collection is looking a little sparse, this is the perfect opportunity to restock. And if you’ve been wondering who from BIA-NE will be throwing that first pitch, you’ll have to come see for yourself!
Whether you’re a longtime supporter or just looking for a fun summer evening, we’d love to have you join us as we continue raising awareness together.
Building Awareness, One Conversation at a Time
Education is at the heart of everything we do. While conferences and trainings are important, some of the most meaningful conversations happen in everyday places like soccer stadiums and baseball parks.
By partnering with organizations across Nebraska, we’re reaching new audiences, building understanding, and reminding people that brain injury awareness belongs everywhere our communities gather.
We hope to see you at the ballpark on August 18! 💙
The Brain Injury Association of Nebraska not only offers information and referral, but case management to find the resources and make positive changes to live a more fulfilling future with better coping strategies as well as memory aids on board. If you or someone you know has lasting effects from a brain injury, please contact us and allow us to offer our services, to find a new normal on this journey where ‘once you’ve seen a brain injury, you’ve seen one brain injury.
