Every brain injury journey is different, and every story deserves to be heard.
Living with a brain injury can bring changes that others may not fully understand. For individuals with brain injury, caregivers, and loved ones, sharing those experiences can be a powerful way to raise awareness, build connections, and help others feel less alone.
Through Journeys of Hope, the Brain Injury Association of Nebraska (BIA-NE) invites you to share your experiences, perspectives, and creativity with others across Nebraska.
And the best part? You don’t have to figure out how to tell your story alone.
Your Story Doesn’t Have to Be Written
When we say we want to hear your story, we mean it in whatever form feels right to you.
Maybe you enjoy writing. Maybe you’d rather express yourself through poetry, artwork, photography, music, or another creative outlet. You might even have a collection of songs that represents different moments in your journey.
There is no single right way to tell your story.
You also don’t need to have all the answers or a perfectly written piece ready to submit. Our team is happy to work with you to organize your thoughts, explore ideas, and help craft your story in a way that feels authentic to you.
You decide what to share, how to share it, and which parts of your experience you want others to know.
Why Sharing Your Brain Injury Story Matters
Brain injury affects people in different ways, and many of those effects aren’t immediately visible.
Personal stories help others better understand what life after brain injury can look like. They can also create meaningful connections between individuals navigating similar experiences.
Whether your story focuses on recovery, daily challenges, personal growth, caregiving, or something entirely different, your perspective matters.
You don’t need an extraordinary milestone or a perfect ending to have something worth sharing.
You can explore the experiences of others through our Journeys of Hope story collection
We’re Here to Help
Not sure where to begin? That’s okay!
Our team can help you brainstorm, organize your thoughts, and find a way to express what matters most to you. Whether you have a completed story or just an idea, we’d love to hear from you.
